What should I expect during my first visit?

At The Dental Co., we aim to make your first visit as comfortable and informative as possible. Here’s what you can expect:

  1. Pre-Appointment Preparation
We recommend arriving 10-15 minutes early to complete any necessary paperwork. This will allow you time to get settled before your appointment. Please bring along a list of any medications you’re currently taking and your private health card, if applicable. If you have previous dental records or X-rays, providing these can assist us in offering more precise and personalised care.
  1. Comprehensive Examination
Your first visit will include a thorough one-hour consultation and assessment. Our team will take the time to get to know you and review your dental health history. We’ll conduct a detailed examination of your teeth and gums using diagnostic tools like digital X-rays, photos, and 3D scans. This helps us get a complete picture of your oral health and provide an accurate diagnosis.
  1. Personalised Treatment Plan
After your assessment, we’ll review the results with you and address any questions you may have. From there, we’ll develop a personalised treatment plan based on your dental needs and long-term goals. Beyond the immediate care we provide, our goal is to equip you with the knowledge and tools to maintain good oral health between visits. We believe that well-informed patients are empowered to take control of their dental well-being.

How often should I schedule routine dental check-ups?

Regular dental check-ups are important for keeping your oral health on track. The Australian Dental Association (ADA) recommends that patients see their dentist every 6–12 months. That said, the ideal frequency for visits varies based on individual needs. Those at higher risk for gum disease or cavities may benefit from check-ups every three to six months.

During each visit, your dentist will evaluate your oral health and offer guidance on how often you should return. Consistent check-ups are key to detecting issues early and taking preventative action to protect your smile.
