However, approval depends on your Afterpay account status, available balance, and whether the clinic offers this payment option. Your approved limit must cover the full cost, and choosing Afterpay during payment instantly confirms your approval.

Below are examples of dental services that may be eligible for Afterpay:

• Check-ups and cleans:
  These appointments include a dental examination, scale and polish, and, often, diagnostic X-rays. They help maintain oral health and detect early signs of issues.
• Fillings:
  Tooth fillings are used to restore teeth affected by cavities or minor damage. The procedure is often completed in a single visit.
• Teeth whitening:
  Afterpay may apply to both in-chair whitening sessions and professional take-home kits. These are considered cosmetic treatments performed over one or more visits.
• Simple and complex extractions:
  Tooth removal may be needed due to decay, infection, or crowding. This includes both routine and surgical extractions, depending on the case.
• Crowns and bridges:
  These restorations are used to strengthen damaged teeth or replace missing ones. The process may involve multiple visits, depending on the materials used.
• Custom mouthguards:
  Night guards or sports mouthguards may also be eligible. These are custom-fitted to your teeth and made in a dental lab.

1. Visit the Afterpay website or download the mobile app.
   You can begin the registration process through Afterpay’s official website or by installing their app on your smartphone.
2. Create an account using your basic information.
   This includes your full name, date of birth, mobile number, email address, and a valid debit or credit card.
3. Verify your identity if prompted.
   Afterpay may request additional documentation or send a mobile verification code to confirm your identity before finalising your account.
4. Wait for Afterpay to assess your account.
   Once registered, Afterpay will run a quick internal check to determine your spending limit and account eligibility.
5. Check your account status before your appointment.
   Logging into the app before your visit allows you to confirm your balance and avoid delays at the time of payment.

Afterpay does not charge interest on dental payments. The total cost of your treatment is split into four equal fortnightly instalments, with no additional fees when payments are made on time.

However, a late fee may apply if a scheduled instalment is missed. An initial $10 fee is charged, and if the payment remains overdue after seven days, an additional $7 fee may be applied. Late fees are capped at either $68 or 25% of the order value—whichever is lower.

To avoid late fees, make sure your linked card details are up to date, and your account has sufficient funds before each instalment. The Afterpay app also provides reminders and real-time access to your payment schedule.

Missing a payment may trigger late fees and affect your ability to use Afterpay in the future. Below is what typically happens:

• Afterpay will notify you of the missed payment.
  You’ll receive alerts through email, SMS, or app notifications before another attempt to collect the instalment.
• The system will retry the payment after a short delay.
  A second attempt is usually made automatically. You can use this time to arrange funds or update your payment method.
• A capped late fee may be applied if payment is unsuccessful.
  Afterpay may charge a late fee based on the duration of the overdue amount. Your account outlines these charges.
• Your account may be temporarily paused.
  Further use of Afterpay may be restricted until the outstanding balance is settled and your payment method is verified as valid.
• You can manage your schedule through the Afterpay app.

Approval generally occurs instantly when Afterpay is selected at checkout. The system performs a brief check to confirm account activity and available balance.
